The least commercialised watertown compared to the rest and the only one which has a Unesco garden which was visited by famous people from China like Gongli and past presidents of China like Jiang Zemin. Unlike Italy's Venice, if you are observant, you can see the daily life of the locals and even the interiors of their homes. The biggest hurdle would probably be language, so it would be good to get a guide. The journey to this Suzhou watertown was about 1 hour 45 minutes from Shanghai by car and you have to buy tickets for entry. Once there, do take the gondolas or boats to ply the canal at 90 RMB per boat. There are many food opportunities since the locals start restaurants from their homes and let u try their food, though I'm not sure about the pricing since our guide paid for it and it was inclusive in the package tour.

古き良き時代の蘇州文化もとい江南文化が観光資源化された事で存続している町。本来は冨土と言う地名だったのだが、清国皇帝が行幸された際に皇帝に憚って富の字を同田の字に分解。 更に富土の土と分解した田を足しして田土里と変え、以後の地名を同里と呼ぶ様に成った。 乾隆帝も蘇州が好きで遊覧に来ていたが、この同里も訪れている。 堀に囲まれた同里地区の入口に入場券を販売している場所が有り、町の一区画全体が観光特区化され保存されている。 中では江南文化の評弾や昆曲の生演奏が実演されていたり、現代では都市化が進み個性の無くなった中国で失われた中国伝統建築文化財が多く現存しており、又、そこに人も住んでいる。 もし、中共の文革に汚染される以前の本当の穏やかな中国を見たければ、一度はここに来るべし！
